Fifty plus years as a leading electrical contractor in the area means we are just getting into our stride!

From its relatively diminutive beginnings in 1969, Blandfords has grown from a small but perfectly formed fledgling business into a highly efficient enterprise employing a highly qualified and motivated team. Winning major contracts to deliver projects on time and to cost for large corporate companies is now part of our every day workload, but we haven’t forgotten our pedigree. Service and quality remain of paramount importance to our business.

Company History

1969: Brian and Jean Smith setup Blandford Electrical as a partnership.
Brian and Jean Smith setup Blandford Electrical as a partnership. The business is named after the street where they lived – Blandford Avenue in Kettering.
1984: Paul Smith completes RAE Bedford apprenticeship.
After completing his five-year apprenticeship at RAE Bedford, multi trade trained Paul Smith joins the business. Paul becomes a Partner shortly after.
1986: Chris Canham joins the business.
Chris Canham joins the business and progresses through extensive personal and technical training, his high quality of commitment, work output, enthusiasm and extensive business knowledge leads to him becoming a partner in 1990. In 1998 Chris becomes an additional NICEIC Qualifying Manager.
1994: Andy Baish joins the business.
Andy Baish joins the business and following successful completion of many major projects and with earning credits in the C&G 2400 Electrical Designers Examination is promoted to Technical Manager in 1998. Andy excelled in this role and is promoted to Partner in 2001.
2000: Brian Smith retires after thirty-one years of dedication to the firm.
Brian Smith retires after thirty-one years of dedication to the firm, then continued to assist as a Consultant to the firm for a further four years before finally hanging up his tools
2004: Relocation from our old offices in Park Road Kettering to Broughton Grange.
In May the major relocation from our old offices in Park Road Kettering to Broughton Grange takes place. A huge effort supported by all the staff meant no downtime or loss of production occurred in the smooth transition.
2005: Blandford Electrical change entity to Blandfords LLP.
Blandford Electrical change entity to Blandfords LLP to allow for the continuing expansion into many new areas of business and ever increasing contract values.
2013: Paul Smith takes a step back from the day to day running of the business after 29 years.

2015: Blandfords relocated to Telford Way Industrial Estate.
Blandfords relocated to Telford Way Industrial Estate, The units accommodate our needs far better, bringing everything under one roof with greater access to the A14.
2016: Chris Canham celebrates 30 years at Blandfords, looking forward to the future.
